As of June 15, 2012, all individuals who satisfy one of the points below are eligible for Deferred Action.
- Came to the U.S. under the age of 16;
- Have resided continuously in the U.S. for 5 years preceding June 15, 2012;
- Are currently in school, have graduated from high school, or have obtained a G.E.D.;
- Have not been convicted of a misdemeanor offense or multiple misdemeanor offenses;
- Not be over the age of 30

With a grant of deferred action, DREAMers are eligible to receive an employment authorization card from USCIS which will allow them to obtain a social security card and receive financial aid and scholarships for college. The grant of Deferred Action is valid for a two-year period, and then must be renewed.
