Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals ("DREAMers")

As of June 15, 2012 all individuals who:

  • Came to the U.S. under the age of 16;
  • Have resided continuously in the U.S. for 5 years preceding June 15, 2012;
  • Are currently in school, have graduated from high school, or have obtained a G.E.D.;
  • Have not been convicted of a misdemeanor offense or multiple misdemeanor offenses;
  • Not be over the age of 30

are eligible for Deferred Action. With a grant of deferred action, DREAMers are eligible to receive an employment authorization card from USCIS which will allow them to obtain a social security card, and receive financial aid and scholarships for college. The grant of Deferred Action is valid for a two year period, and then must be renewed.
